Had a nice weekend all in all. It all started Friday lunch time when we went to the pub for a spot of dinner and a pint. The end result was that far too many were consumed so the afternoon back in work was probably not as productive as it should have been.
It was good to celebrate Phil Parkinson moving into his new role and the usual suspects of Tim Lawrence, Charlie Llewellyn, Chris Doyle and Neil Sayer always provide top entertainment.
I was pleased to get out the office and back home (via the hotel for another pint I should add) Needless to say I was somewhat lethargic when I got home.
Anyway I pulled myself together and was functional for a curry with Vicki and some friends later that night. Always a cracking meal at the Shaad. We got home and continued our obsession with Downton Abbey! Yes this is a shoddy admission of old age but hey its great drama.
Saturday I was planning to road ride to Glastonbury with Charlie and some others from work but during the curry I decided I just wanted a chilled out morning so cancelled it.
It was lovely to lie in and not worry about having to rush anywhere. We had a really relaxing morning doing the crossword and watching more Downton.
Later that day we arranged to go and see Paulton birthing center where we think we may go for the birth. It was very nice and relaxed and didnt feel as clinical as Bath. Its also more likely to get access to the birthing pool so I think its a likely option. Im certainly keen for it but ultimately Vicki will decide as she is the one going through it after all!
After Paulton we went our separate ways. I headed to Glastonbury to spend the night with Richard Moon and some of the other lads I met when I first went to the Alps.
We had a good evening starting with a nice meal followed by some beers and pool. His house is lovely.
Sunday myself and Richard headed over to the Quantocks and did a great off road ride. He knows it really well so I just followed albeit quite slowly as my cube is getting harder and harder to ride! Time to trade it in for something more suited to xc.
The Quantocks are beautiful and the riding was great. The weather was eerily misty which added to the atmosphere nicely. Check out the pictures below :-
I think it was around 11 miles with quite a few climbs so it was a good work out.
Afterwards we headed back to Richards and he supplied with a whole load of meat for a bargain price, enough to last for sometime!
I headed home looking forward to some slow roasted pork shoulder that Vicki had picked up from a local farm shop. The recipe was from Jamie Oliver and the overall cooking time was about 6 hours so it was truly amazing, really tender and just falling off the bone.
I did the rest of the trimmings to go with it.
Now its time to digest it all and watch some more Downton 🙂
